yippee, skippee...we're home! (personal)

We're finally home!!! Yeah! Our doctor released us last night, and we are back home in New Braunfels. Let's see...so, he stayed the rest of Friday in his bed, doing "okay." He still wasn't eating or drinking much, which was unacceptable for the doctor if he was going to leave. So, we stayed another night. Saturday morning, she still wasn't thrilled with his progress. He did eat a tiny bit more and drink some, but he didn't want to get up or do much of anything. Then, at about 1:30 p.m., we were watching Spy Kids, and Dayton decided that it was time to be all better!

He sat up in his bed...told me he wanted to eat lunch (what?!?...I wasn't even sure he remembered that word!)...said he wanted his drink...and then said that he wanted to go walking around the hospital and look out the windows! So, he ate half of his lunch (woo-hoo!) and started taking lots of sips of his drink! His oxygen levels went up drastically, too!!!

Here is his sitting up and SMILING!...

Then we got his mask on, so he could leave his room for a little walk...

He wanted to check-out the fish tank...

And we visited the children's playroom for a while...

His nurses saw us in the hallway and they couldn't believe that was the same boy that wouldn't talk, eat, or respond to them just hours earlier! So, they monitored him for a few more hours, to make sure his levels would stay good and that he'd conitnue to want to eat/drink. The doctor came in to see him, and she, too, couldn't believe it! She said that she had already decided earlier on that he'd have to stay at least another day. But after looking over his monitors and seeing how different he was acting, she would let us go home!

Here is Dayton with is favorite nurse, Amanda...

And so happy with Daddy...

Worn out on the way home...

Dayton slept okay last night, still waking up several times. I think he was getting confused as to where he was! We will have to wake him every few hours for breathing treatments and medicine. He can't go back to school for a few more days, and he's not allowed to do anything that involves moving too much...so no P.E. for about a week.

But he's home and doing soooo much better!!! Again, thanks for your prayers through all of this! We praise God that he's home with us and going good!!!

Hi Amber,

Thank you for sending me the link to your blog so I could catch up with you and your boys. Good gravy....what an ordeal! We've got lots of friends that have been sick. Remember when strep seemed to be the worst thing to worry about ? aaaah the good ol' days.
Hope he's back on his feet soon.
Sounds like the worst is definitely over.
Your old friend from Copperfield,
Becki
